From the Hole in the Wall Theater:
What do you get when you add two of the greatest geniuses of the 20th century to a small Parisian cafe and stir? Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.”
Two guys walk into a bar. One is Albert Einstein, the other Pablo Picasso. Both are on the verge of creating their landmark works: Picasso’s Les Demoiselles D’Avignon and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Watch the sparks fly as they, along with the Lapin Agile staff and patrons, debate science, art, and love. Famed actor and writer Steve Martin muses this imaginary meeting in turn-of-the-century Paris to explore inspiration, the passion of creation, and the passions of its creators.
Winner of the 1995 Outer Critics' Circle Awards for Best Play and Best Writer, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” is full of hilarious chance encounters and fascinating characters who are dealing with the prospect of a new century stretching out before them in a variety of ways. Directed by Dave Levine and produced by Gene Tellier and Wendy Wolowicz, the show, at New Britain's Hole in the Wall Theater, runs Friday and Saturday nights, September 15, 16; 22, 23; 29, 30 and October 6, 7; 13, 14. Preshow cabaret begins at 7:40. Performance begins at 8:00. There is a $15 suggested donation. For reservations call (860) 229-3049. Ample free parking available in the Chestnut St Parking Garage.
