CONCORA announces its 2007–2008 concert season. Founded by Artistic Director Richard Coffey in 1974, CONCORA is Connecticut’s premier professional choir. The season will demonstrate the group’s versatility in a wide variety of programming, ranging from the poignancy of the Holocaust Cantata and Bloch’s Sacred Service to the intimacy of Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, the unbridled joy of Bach’s cantatas, and the magnificence of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers. Hartford Symphony Orchestra Music Director Edward Cumming has said of CONCORA, “Any presentation by CONCORA is well worth attending for anyone who has not heard this ensemble. They’re … one of the prime jewels.” Composer Ned Rorem wrote, “CONCORA is a priceless endeavor in our age of mostly vapid art.”
